I'm really excited to announce that I'll be attending An Event Apart this week in Chicago. If internet access and battery life permit, i'll try to live blog the whole thing. Ideally that means new entries for each presenter with a roundup at the end of each day, but I'll commit to at least two comprehensive posts covering the experience in general.
Attending is important for several reasons. First, this is a relatively unique opportunity where concepts can be learned from the source and the future of the web can be ascertained by those who are directing its change. Additionally, it'll be interesting to compare and contrast operational differences with GIEN, to see where we can improve as well as what we've already done right.
Most importantly, though, it is exposure and involvement at a functional level. It is Adventism being present in the development process and showing that we are seriously committed to not only using technology but also contributing to its progress. As GIEN is a forum committed to the use of technology in reaching people wherever they may be, it makes sense that we'd be in attendance.
Stay tuned for more updates as the event starts at 8am tomorrow. Feel free to comment if there's anything you'd want me to specifically pay attention to.
